Set up Tend Block in Safari

  1. Open Tend Block once, so Safari learns about its extensions.
  2. In Safari, choose Safari, then Settings, then Extensions.
  3. Tick Tend Block – Ads & Trackers, Tend Block – Cookie Banners and, with Pro, Tend Block – Distractions.
  4. For the counts on Home, and for cookie answers with Pro, also tick Tend Block Helper and allow it on all websites.

Tend Block's Safari Blocking page shows each blocker's state, so you can see straight away if one is still off.

When something isn't right

A site looks broken or won't load properly

Add it to Allowed sites in Tend Block's Settings, and nothing is blocked there. To stop blocking everywhere for a while, click Pause Blocking in the sidebar. Then tell us with Report an Issue, so the rule can be fixed for everyone.

An ad or pop-up still shows

Use Report an Issue with the page address. Rules are written by hand and tested in Safari, so a real example helps the most. With Pro, you can also add any domain to your own block list in Settings.

"Still using previous rules"

Safari didn't accept the latest change for that blocker, so it keeps the rules it had. Tend Block tries again on its own every minute, and Try Again does it straight away. If it keeps happening, quit and reopen Safari.

Home says "Not measured"

Counts come from Tend Block Helper. Switch it on in Safari's Extensions settings and allow it on all websites. Blocking works either way.

A cookie pop-up wasn't answered

Answers depend on recognising the site's consent pop-up, and some aren't supported yet. Report the site and we'll look at it.
